Entertainment giant and drone enthusiasts Amazon have acquired Doctor Who spin-off The Minister of Chance!” What is The Minister of Chance?” I hear you howl at the unfamiliar collection of words before you. Well, now is the perfect time to find out!

The series set in a world not our own, sees Ambassador Durian of the technologically advanced nation of Sezuan  sent to negotiate peace with the King of the medieval backwater nation of Tanto. However, the King rebuffs Durian’s overtures of friendship, and things take a turn for the very, very sinister.

At a nearby inn, barmaid Kitty’s routine of fighting, abusing customers, and avoiding personal hygiene is disrupted by the arrival of a cloaked stranger. Her routine is further disrupted when she follows him into the forest, through a ghostly doorway, over the frost bridge between worlds, and into an adventure encompassing invasions, machiavellian political scheming and conversations with frog gods at the entrance to the Underworld…

A labour of love for creator Dan Freeman, the accomplished scripts and production values soon found willing backers via crowdfunding – helped by the immense roster of talent including Jenny Agutter, Jed Brophy, Lauren Crace, Paul Darrow, Philip Glenister, Tamsin Greig, Sylvester McCoy, Paul McGann and theatrical legend Julian Wadham as the titular Minister.

The epic tales have an effervescent worldwide fanbase (known as ‘Chancers’) and a movie version is in pre-production as we speak! Well not speak, type…well not type, read, well, one of us is reading, the other is off battling demons across the planes of imagination.

The series is now available via Audible or for £7.87.

What’s more producers Radio Static have launched a whole new podcast The Light of September – an audio movie where in something travels faster than the speed of light, leaving a wake of Earth-shattering consequences for the crew of the oceanographic research ship Venus to confront.

Featuring a stellar international cast – including Sylvester McCoy and Tamsin Greig – and incredible innovations in audio technique, the series will take you on a journey into wild seas and strange lands.

All you need is a pair of headphones!
